Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome! Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions about my clinical nutrition consultations and youth sports nutrition services. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to contact me for more information.
General Questions
-
Clinical nutrition is about using food, lifestyle strategies, and personalised plans to address health concerns and improve well-being. My approach is evidence-based, focusing on your unique needs to help you achieve sustainable results. Whether you’re recovering post-natally, navigating perimenopause, or supporting a young athlete, nutrition can be a powerful tool for lasting change.
-
While both professions deal with food and health, my role as a Clinical Nutritionist focuses on holistic care, considering not just your diet but also lifestyle factors, emotional well-being, and other health concerns. My sessions are highly personalised and often include recommendations for functional testing like blood work.
-
I predominantly see clients online but can offer in-person consultations if requested.
-
I hold a Bachelor of Health Science (Clinical Nutrition), a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology), and certifications in health coaching from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and The Nutrition Academy.
One-on-One Clinical Nutrition Consultations
-
Your first appointment lasts for approximately 60 minutes and includes a full case history and dietary analysis. This is a deep dive into your current health concerns, lifestyle, and goals. I’ll also provide recommendations for personalised blood tests and functional pathology tests to better understand your nutritional needs.
-
Blood tests help identify underlying imbalances or deficiencies that may not be apparent through symptoms alone. This ensures your treatment plan is tailored specifically to your body’s needs.
-
After the initial consultation, we’ll meet again in four weeks to review your blood test results and refine your treatment plan. Most clients work with me for about six months, with follow-up appointments every 4–8 weeks to track progress and adjust as needed.
-
I specialise in supporting women with post-natal recovery, perimenopause, and general health challenges like fatigue, hormonal imbalances, and nutrient deficiencies, however, I do see clients (including males) for a variety of other health conditions. My approach is practical, compassionate, and results-driven.
-
I may recommend supplements if needed, but my approach is always to use food first. Any supplements suggested will be evidence-based and tailored to your specific requirements.
-
Instead of strict meal plans, I provide flexible, personalised guidelines that fit your lifestyle. These are designed to be sustainable and easy to integrate into your daily routine.
Youth Sports Nutrition Consultations
-
The first session lasts 60 minutes and includes a full case history and dietary analysis, similar to the clinical nutrition consultation. I’ll assess the athlete’s current diet, training schedule, and goals to create a personalised strategy.
-
Follow-up sessions are 30-45 minutes and focus on teaching everyday nutrition to ensure the basics are covered before diving into performance nutrition principles. Most clients require 4–6 sessions.
-
Everyday nutrition ensures the athlete is meeting their basic energy and nutrient needs before focusing on advanced performance strategies. It’s about building a strong foundation for growth, recovery, and sustained energy.
-
Absolutely! We’ll cover everything from pre-game meals and hydration to recovery strategies post-match, ensuring your child performs at their best.
-
Good nutrition supports growth, energy, focus, injury prevention, and recovery. It can make a huge difference in athletic performance, from reducing fatigue during training to improving decision-making in the final moments of a match.
-
Yes, I’m available for workshops or team consultations. These sessions can be customised to address specific needs, like fuelling for tournaments, managing nutrition during intensive training periods, and injury prevention through nutrition prescription.
